Camp Details

Age Range: 5-12 

Hours: 8 am to 5 pm. Inquire about our flexible hours for early drop off and later pick up. 

Location: Westdale United Church at 1509 Sherbrooke St, Peterborough, ON K9K 2J1

Details: Campers will be spending the majority of their day outside so they are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear clothes that can get dirty. Consider wearing boots for exploring and bringing an alternate pair of shoes.
Bonus: Each week there will be a field trip scheduled at no additional cost. 
Packing list: a backpack, a nutritious lunch with plenty of snacks and a reusable water bottle, a change of clothes for rain or shine, bathing suit and/or rash guard clothing, change of shoes/water shoes, a towel, a bag for wet clothes, a hat and sunglasses, and their preferred sunblock/sunscreen and bug spray if desired.

At Sun School Summer Camp, we are committed to making high-quality summer experiences accessible for all families - which is why we offer a sibling discount! 
Weekly rate: $300/week per child, $250/week for each additional sibling.

Week 1: Monday June 29th - Friday July 3rd 2026

Theme: 🏡 Habitat Heroes 🏡 Where do animals live and why do they live there? Campers will learn about animal habitats and try their hand at building their own natural structure.

Week 2: Tuesday July 7th - Friday July 10th 2026

*No programming Monday July 6th, pricing will account for this.
Theme: 🐟 Waves & Whirls 🐟 All about who lives in the water. Campers will learn about fish and other creatures that live in rivers, lakes, and oceans, as well as the importance of clean drinking water for all.

Week 3: Monday July 13th - Friday July 17th 2026

Theme: 🦆 Wings & Wonders 🦋 Take to the skies and explore the amazing world of wings! Campers will discover the incredible diversity of birds and insects, learning about their unique behaviors, habitats, and adaptations. From bird songs to buzzing wings, we’ll explore how these creatures help ecosystems thrive and what we can do to protect them.

Week 4: Monday July 20th - Friday July 24th 2026

Theme: 🐛 Insect Investigators 🐛 All about the tiny creatures that crawl, buzz, and flutter all around us. Campers will explore the fascinating world of insects, learning about their life cycles, habitats, and the important roles they play in our ecosystems, while discovering how we can help protect these tiny but mighty creatures.

Week 5: Monday July 27th - Friday July 31st 2026

Theme: 🐝 Pollinator Pals 🐝 All about the tiny helpers that keep our world blooming. Campers will learn about bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators, exploring how they help plants grow, produce food, and support healthy ecosystems, while discovering ways we can protect these essential creatures.

Week 6: Tuesday August 4th - Friday August 7th 2026

Theme: 🤎 Dirt Detectives 🤎 Get ready to get muddy, this week is all about dirt! Campers will explore soil, rocks, and the tiny creatures that call dirt home, learning how healthy soil supports plants, animals, and ecosystems, and why protecting the ground beneath us is so important.

Week 7: Monday August 10th- Friday August 14th 2026

Theme: 🌱 Sprout Scouts 🌱 All about plants. What kind of plants live in Peterborough? Equipped with a magnifying glass and iNaturalist/Seek, campers will become citizen scientists.

Week 8: Monday August 17th - Friday August 21st 2026

Theme: 🗺️ Ecosystem Explorers 🗺️ Dust off your mapping skills, we are going on an adventure! Campers will learn how to create a map, how to use a compass and give directions, as well as how to slow down and create a sound map with their ears.

Theme: 🌳 Roots & Routes 🌳 Campers will learn about how living things are connected through roots and adaptations. Campers will learn about symbiotic relationships, food webs and food chains, and structural and behavioural adaptations.
