Camp Details
Age Range: 5-12
Hours: 8 am to 5 pm. Inquire about our flexible hours for early drop off and later pick up.
Location: Westdale United Church at 1509 Sherbrooke St, Peterborough, ON K9K 2J1
Details: Campers will be spending the majority of their day outside so they are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear clothes that can get dirty. Consider wearing boots for exploring and bringing an alternate pair of shoes.
Bonus: Each week there will be a field trip scheduled at no additional cost. Campers will also receive a Sun School t-shirt that they can wear to camp.
Packing list: a backpack, a nutritious lunch with plenty of snacks and a reusable water bottle, a change of clothes for rain or shine, bathing suit and/or rash guard clothing, change of shoes/water shoes, a towel, a bag for wet clothes, a hat and sunglasses, and their preferred sunblock/sunscreen and bug spray if desired.

Weekly rate: $350/week per child, $250/week for each additional sibling.

Week 1: Monday July 14th - Friday July 18th 2025
Theme: 🏡 Habitat Heroes 🏡 Where do animals live and why do they live there? Campers will learn about animal habitats and try their hand at building their own natural structure.
Planned field trips/events: Visit from the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre, field trip to Riverview Park & Zoo

Week 2: Monday July 21st - Friday July 25th 2025
Theme: 🐟 Waves & Whirls 🐟 All about who lives in the water. Campers will learn about fish and other creatures that live in rivers, lakes, and oceans, as well as the importance of clean drinking water for all.
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to Jackson Park to see Jackson Creek, field trip to Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, water day (Thursday)

Week 3: Monday July 28th - Friday August 1st 2025
Theme: 🦆 Wings & Wonders 🦆 All about creatures that fly. Campers will learn about birds and insects who make the open sky their domain.
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to Riverview Park & Zoo, field trip to watch Migration at the Peterborough Public Library

Theme: 🤎 Dirt Detectives 🤎 Get ready to get muddy, this week is all about dirt!
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to Riverview Park & Zoo, "Muddy Mischief" days (Wednesday and Friday)

Week 5: Monday August 11th - Friday August 15th 2025
Theme: 🌱 Sprout Scouts 🌱 All about plants. What kind of plants live in Peterborough? Armed with a magnifying glass and iNaturalist/Seek, campers will become citizen scientists.
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to GreenUP Ecology Park

Week 6: Monday August 18th - Friday August 22nd 2025
Theme: 🗺️ Ecosystem Explorers 🗺️ Dust off your mapping skills, we are going on an adventure! Campers will learn how to create a map, how to use a compass and give directions, as well as how to slow down and create a sound map with their ears.
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to the Peterborough Art Gallery, field trip to Riverview Park & Zoo

Week 7: Monday August 25th - Thursday August 28th

Theme: 🌳 Roots & Routes 🌳 Campers will learn about how living things are connected through roots and adaptations. Campers will learn about symbiotic relationships, food webs and food chains, and structural and behavioural adaptations.
Planned field trips/events: Field trip to Peterborough Museum and Archives, field trip to Riverview Park and Zoo
