Workshops
Sun School workshops get students outside to do their learning, rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather (pouring rain, thunderstorms/lightning, extreme temperatures), workshops will be moved inside to keep safety at the forefront.
Students are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather (whether hot or cold) and to dress in clothes that they don't mind getting dirty. Students are invited to bring water bottles outside with them, especially during the hotter summer months.
Workshops are organized based on division for ease of searching.

Teacher Testimonials

Grade 3/4 Teacher

North Cavan Public School

Haley is incredibly knoweldgeable about the subject matter within her workshop. She planned and facilitated activities and games that met my learners' interests and needs and kept them engaged. My students were even playing the games themselves the next day at recess! The content of the learning aligned well with the Ontario science curriculum and I was able to easily integrate the learning from our workshop into my planning for the following week as we explored more concepts related to wildlife, conservation and learning about our environment. Thank you Haley!

Newcastle Public School

Haley did a fantastic job engaging learners in several outdoor ed activities. From the icebreaker, to the practical craftivity, my students were eager to share and participate. Curriculum-related, highly engaging, movement included.
Grade 8 Teacher

Norwood District Intermediate School

The students loved every moment of the workshop! Many had never used a hammer before and loved that they built something with their two hands. When we went outside to learn about migration, the students had so much fun they asked to play the activity again in gym! This is an unheard of participation rate for 14 year olds!
Grade 5 Teacher

Burnham Public School

The 100 minutes were filled with interactive, very educational lessons and fun activities. Students always benefit from hands-on centres/games as they can focus yet have fun at the same time. The bird game was a hoot and combining movement within a lesson keeps students engaged. My students loved the bird feeders as they got to take something home to put in their yard... Overall my class really enjoyed their time and thought it was very creative and interactive.

The workshop was well organized, thorough and had age.grade appropriate activities. Students loved the variety of learning through stories, games and a hands-on craft. Haley was great with explaining and teaching the students of ALL ages new facts and keeping them focused.

This was a really fun activity for our students to take part in. The gathering game was a blast!! (and I think we will be taking this idea for future classes!). The bird feeders were such a hit! The kids really enjoyed hanging the feeders in the kindergarten yard and seeing them the next morning. The stations were easy to use and very kid friendly!

Grade 7 Teacher

Norwood District Intermediate School

It was very hands on and interactive for students. They really enjoyed the building. The group work/partnership allowed them to work on their problem solving skills. The outdoor portion of games/activities allowed them to put their learning to use. Well done overall!
